Hardwood Floor Installation
Solid and engineered hardwood floors installed with tight seams and a finish that lasts.
Cupped boards, squeaks, and gaps at the baseboard usually mean a hardwood floor was rushed. GM Tile Designs installs hardwood floors in The Woodlands, TX the slow way, with proper moisture checks and subfloor prep, so your floor stays flat and quiet. Skilled craftsmen are on every job, the estimate is in writing, and we quote your floor and skilled craftsmen lay the last plank.
What's Included
Solid and engineered options
Oak, maple, hickory, and engineered planks for slab homes. We help you pick the species and grade that fit your rooms and your budget.
Moisture and subfloor prep first
We check moisture, flatten the subfloor, and let the wood acclimate before install. That is what keeps planks from cupping and popping later.
Tight seams across open plans
We plan plank runs so the floor flows through open layouts without a seam catching your eye, like the Hollymead home we did in The Woodlands.
Skilled craftsmen, written estimate
Decades in the trade and fully insured. Clear scope and pricing before we start.
Why hardwood floors fail, and how we prevent it
A hardwood floor lives or dies on what happens before the first plank goes down. Our clay soil and humid summers move slabs and swell wood, so a floor laid over a damp or uneven subfloor will cup, gap, or squeak within a year or two. The wood is rarely the problem. The prep is.
We start with a moisture reading on the slab or subfloor, then flatten it so the floor has no hollow spots. We let the wood acclimate in your home before we install, so it settles to your conditions, not the warehouse. Only then do we lay the floor with the right fasteners and expansion gaps. That order of operations is the difference between a floor that lasts decades and one you fight every season.
Uriel Gutierrez and his brothers Uzziel and Ulises Jr. are taking on more of a leadership role, backed by their father and founder Ulises, who has spent decades learning where wood floors go wrong. When we set the hardwood in a Hollymead home in The Woodlands, we mapped the plank runs across the open floor plan first, so the seams disappear and the eye reads one continuous floor.
What to expect from your hardwood install
You reach the family that stands behind the work. We come measure, walk your rooms, and talk through solid versus engineered, species, plank width, and finish in plain terms. You get a written estimate with the full scope, so there are no surprise charges on install day.
During the install we protect your space, control dust, and clean up each evening. We are fully insured, and skilled craftsmen are on site the whole time. When the floor is finished, we walk it with you before you sign off.
Hardwood pairs well with tile in wet areas, and many homeowners run hardwood through the living spaces with tile flooring in baths and laundry rooms. If you want the full picture on materials and rooms, start with our flooring overview. We install hardwood from our Magnolia home base across The Woodlands and into Memorial with the same crew and the same written estimate.
